GOOGLE is facing tough times in EU. After the Anti-Trust
charges and a USD 185 mn tax settlement deal with the HM-Revenue, it has
run into trouble with the French tax authorities. As per various reports,
the French authorities raided its Paris premises in early morning crackdown.
The
French taxmen have alleged that Google has avoided paying corporate taxes
to the tune of USD 2.5 bn by channelising company accounts through Ireland
and then to a tax haven. The entire focus of the probe is to verify whether
Google Ireland has a PE in France and whether it has declared its part
of business done in the French territory.
The
Google has issued a statement to the media that it was cooperating with
the French authorities.
