G20 labels Uruguay as tax haven; Uruguay accuses Argentina of putting pressure on OECD By TII News Service Nov 07, 2011 , Montevideo
NO sooner the French President, Mr Nicolas Sarkozy, urged the international community to isolate Uruguay as it is a tax haven, the political parties in Uruguay have alleged that Argentina has put pressure on G20 and OECD to lable it a 'tax haven'. The Uruguay Govt has formally protested against such a statement of the French President. Opposition leaders have backed their Govt to ask Brazil and Argentina to clarify their stand on this issue.
