WHILE welcoming the Malaysian investment in
the Indian Infrastructure Sector and applauding the "landmark agreement" of
the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), Union Finance
Minister Pranab Mukherjee expressed his pleasure at the fruits of benefit
that Malaysia and India have been reaping as a result of bilateral trade
in the year 2011( US$ 7.264 billion in the period January-July 2011).

to Dato' Haji Ahmad Husni bin Mohd. Hanadzlah, Minister of Finance (Malaysia)
Mr Mukherjee said that the decision of early signing of the Revised Double
Taxation Avoidance Agreement and the MoU on Customs Cooperation between India
and Malaysia will bring forth outstanding results. With the Malayasian Finance
Minister promising to facilitate more Indian investments and Mr Mukherjee
hoping that the FTA and other economic agreements remain in place, a substantial
enhancement will be seen in the bilateral economic activity between the two
countries.
