THE Indian Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, is scheduled
to inaugurate the 4 th International Tax Dialogue (ITD) Conference on Tax &
Inequality at Vigyan Bhawan at New Delhi tomorrow. Speakers from various global
fora and countries are expected to focus on - to what extent taxation can be
seen as part of the solution to growing inequalities in income and wealth.
The
use of plenary and parallel sessions, with active country participation, would
enable a peer dialogue between Ministers of Finance and Heads of Revenue
Administration around the world. This is a high level conference, with senior
level representation from over 100 countries expected to attend. A number of
prominent academics and representatives of regional and international
organizations will be also present at the conference. More than 250 foreign
delegates are expected to take part in this three days conference.
