ACCORDING to experts, the EU's Emission Trading System (ETS) is likely
to trigger trade battle between major economies.
It is
reported that the US is tailoring a Bill to authorise Department of
Transportation to prevent US Airlines from taking part in the ETS. A similar
bill has already been approved by the US House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, the China Air Transport Association has stated that its
members would not cooperate with the ETS. India is likely to join the same
bandwagon.
IATA
has urged all the key players to negotiate at the ICAO, which is working on a
framework for a global scheme on aviation carbon emissions.
