THE US
Senate has given the green signal to a larger highway transportation bill. The
bill that aims to crack down on foreign tax havens shall allow the Treasury
Department to take effective action against foreign governments and financial
institutions that evade the U.S. tax enforcement. The amendment was offered by
Senators Carl Levin, Kent Conrad and Sheldon Whitehouse. The amendment would
enable the United States to fight back tax evasion by authorizing the Treasury
to tell U.S. banks to stop doing business with those aiders and abettors of U.S.
tax evasion.
