AS per latest data compiled, the HM Revenue has increasingly been using its authority to seize business assets to effect recovery of unpaid VAT. As per Syscap, a leading independent finance provider, HMRC last year used its seizure powers about 2400 times, which is twice the number of 2010. Experts say that such a drive was stepped up in view of the last day of return-filing by May 7.
