INDIA and Malaysia today
signed the protocol to the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement. The Indian High
Commissioner, Mr Vijay K Gokhale, and Secretary General of the Treasury,
Dr Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah, signed the treaty.
The
key amendments are in respect to reduction in withholding tax rates for dividend,
FTS and royalty. The changes also provide for MAP and exchange of information
between the two countries.
