VODAFONE tax planning never stops surprising Revenue
across the world. In the latest incident being reported by the international
media, Vodafone is reported to have not paid any corporate tax on its UK
profits last year.
As
per news reports of various London-based newspapers, the Vodafone made
good use of its offshore entities, particularly based in low-tax Luxembourg,
to square off its tax liability in the UK. Rather it has claimed a refund
to the tune of USD 6 mn. However, Vodafone officials are reported to have
stated that they had claimed tax reliefs for capital investment and interests
costs to claim the refund. Vodafone is also reported to have said that
it paid 14 bn Pound worldwide last year if one takes into account various
sorts of taxes paid.
