IN an interesting development, the BJP ideologue, Mr K N Govindacharya, has moved a petition in the Delhi HC against social networking sites for not paying taxes attributable to their Indian operations.

In his petition he has alleged, "Facebook gross revenue for previous year was approximately USD 37 billion but they are not paying due taxes on their Indian operations as per provisions of double taxation avoidance agreement and the government is not taking any action to safeguard the national interest and sovereignty of India."

The Delhi HC has issued notice to the Union Govt and social networking sites Facebook and Google India.
