STUNG by growing criticism that the country has become a tax
haven for foreign trust, New Zealand Revenue Minister Peter Dunne has stated
that New Zealand is going to sign an international pact to help plug tax
avoidance.
New
Zealand intends to take benefit of Convention on Mutual Administration
Assistance in Tax Matters to prevent tax evasion and in collecting outstanding
tax debts from absconders.
New Zealand has a wide network of tax treaty
partners, including 37 double tax agreements and a growing network of tax
information exchange agreements.
