PARIS,
SEPT 21, 2010: IN the
past two years, there has been a significant progress towards greater
tax transparency. The 94-Member Global Forum has done the wonders. After
getting the mandate from G-20 for better tax cooperation, it built and
sustained pressure on tax havens and fiscally opaque countries which
have not complied with international standards.
OECD
communique states that more than
200 delegates will meet in Singapore on 29–30 September 2010
to discuss the first Peer Review Reports in respect of - Bermuda, Botswana, the Cayman
Islands, India, Jamaica, Monaco, Panama and Qatar - and to adopt the Annual
Assessment of the progress made. Both the adopted reports and the annual
assessment will be made public. The Global Forum will also consider expanding
its membership and will adopt a report to the G20 on the progress made towards
tax transparency.
