VISA has always been an
emotive issue for most countries across the world. Going by the number
of controversies involving the US Authorities it may appear that the USA
is one fo the few countries which create a mega fuss about visa. India
is equally fussy about some of the countries but it has changed significantly
in the recent years. As per the latest amendment in the Visa Guidelines
the Ministry of Home Affairs has eased the norms for Chinese nationals.
As
per the amendment, a Chinese national can be given 180 days visa with multiple
entry provided one has a proper invite from a recognised Indian organisation.
If forwarded by an authorised Chinese organisation 60 days visa can also
be issued. For genuine business purpose the Indian authorities can also
issue 60 days single entry visa.
Similarly,
for Japanese nationals, the guidelines are that one may be issued Five-Year
multiple entry business visa if one has invite from a recognised business
chamber. A similar five-year employment visa can be granted to a technician/
expert if an agreement is approved by the Government. For IT and IT-enabled
sectors in India, three-year employment visa can be granted.
In
a major shift the MHA eased the norms for seeking approval for conversion
of business visa into entry visa and medical visa.
