NRIs are major contributors to India's foreign exchange reserves. This is a widely known fact. While replying to a query in the Parliament, the MoS for Finance, Mr Namo Narain Meena said in the Rajya Sabha that as per the data collected by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, the sum remitted to India in the last fiscal is to the tune of USD 40810 mn. Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs has informed that no data is available for remittance from the Gulf Countries.
