AS per various international media reports citing a study done by researchers at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands is the window for channelising about 23% of corporate investments in tax havens; followed by the UK (14%), Switzerland (6%) and Ireland (1%).
MNCs tend to avoid paying taxes to the tune of USD 100 bn in the USA per annum and the same ranges between 40 to 160 bn UK Pound in EU.
The keen team of reasearchers also found that there were 24 'sink' offshore destinations where foreign capital was vaulted from the prying eyes of taxmen. Of these, 18 had close association with the UK which provides Head Office to fund managers and The Netherlands caters specialised service by providing holding companies. |
