Minister Pranab Mukherjee will be leaving tonight to attend the G-20 Finance
Ministers Meeting to be held in Busan, South Korea on 4th and 5th June, 2010.
During his stay, the Finance Minister will also hold bilateral meetings,
including one with the UK Chancellor of Exchequer. Besides, the Finance
Minister will also attend the four member BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and
China) nations' Finance Ministers meeting before participating in the main
deliberations of the G-20 Meeting.
The major issues which are likely to come up for discussion during the two-days G-20 Finance Ministers meeting include recovery of global economy and G-20 Framework for strong, sustainable and balanced growth, financial sector regulatory reforms, International Financial Institutions(IFIs) reforms and Global Financial Safety Nets among others. Other issues likely to dominate in the aforesaid meet include energy subsidy, fossil fuel subsidies and financial inclusion etc. Along with G-20 Finance Ministers Meeting, Central Bank Governors' Meeting will also be held in Busan during this period.
The Indian delegation which will be led by Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee include Mr Ashok Chawla, Finance Secretary and other senior officials of the Ministry of Finance.
