THE Dubai
Customs has reiterated that in line with its vision towards being
the leading Customs administration in the world supporting
legitimate trade, combating counterfeiting is its top
business priority.
This will also help realise the Department's mission in
safeguarding the community
and sustaining economic development which is tackled in
cooperation with international entities.
Dubai
Customs Chief H. E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed disclosed that
the number of IPR infringement seizures which
were made by Dubai Customs during the first annual quarter of 2010
has reached
151 as opposed to 64 seizures during the same period in 2009.
This means an increase by about 136%.He also pointed out that the
number of last year seizures with regards to
IPR infringement was 393 in total. They comprised various
products, and included a seizure of about 7 million counterfeited
pills and
1.5 million packs of personal care products.
