ON the sidelines of annual jumboree of
Income Tax Chief Commissioners and DGITs, the Union Finance Minister,
Mr Finance Minister, said that the amended DTAAs with various countries
will help CBDT curb the menace of black money.
He
said that the steps have been taken to amend the DTAAs and also sign
TIEAs with several countries, including tax havens, to obtain bank related
information which would help in tracking down illicit money going out
of India.
The
Revenue Secretary, Mr Sunil Mitra, told the mediapersons that the Govt
may miss the revenue targets in the current fiscal due to high inflation
and slowdown in economic growth.
Mr
Mitra also ruled out any cut in the Customs and Excise duty
on petroleum products as it may impact indirect tax revenue mop-up.
