THE Department of Revenue has
sought Rs. 17.2 Crores in the Supplementary Demand for Grants placed before
Parliament. This is for meeting expenditure towards setting up Income Tax
Overseas Units.
It
may be recalled that one of the measures announced by the Finance Minister,
Mr Pranab Mukherjee, to tackle black money menace was to set up ITOUs in
several countries. Some of the countries where ITOUs are going to be set
up are Cyprus,
France, Germany, Japan, Netherland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom,
United States of America, Singapore and Mauritius. In three of these countries,
the officers have already been posted.
